Today, Wetter Indochine is a thriving contemporary home furnishings company based in Ho Chi Minh City. The company was started when Michael came to Vietnam in 1997 to continue the family textile business. Upon his arrival, Michael began to take notice and became intrigued with the beautiful handicrafts which lined the streets of Saigon and Hanoi. Together with his Swiss precision and his background in fashion and marketing, Michael decided to take a chance and create his first collection of lacquer and rattan items. He took his collection to Switzerland and presented it to some future potential clients. These first few meetings would be the start of what Wetter Indochine is today.

The day Barbara set off to Vietnam, she did not realize this would be the beginning of a career for her.
With high hopes of one day becoming a fashion designer, she left the US at the age of 24 to discover the horizons of the Far East and impressed by Vietnam, decided to stay. In 1998 Barbara and Michael met and discovered that they both had the same interests in design and an eagerness to create never before seen items for the home. Together they have formed a bond of their love for both Vietnam and design. They are constantly coming up with interesting and colorful ways to show to the world the talent of Vietnamese artisans through the combinations of different textures, western design and quality.
